The Salkantay Trek is a 5 day – 4 night adventure that takes you from Cusco to Machu Picchu, and allows you to enjoy the best of the Peruvian Andes, the virgin nature and the majestic Incan past, all of these while you walk around the Salcantay mountain (Apu Salcantay) and the spectacular snowed capped mountains to a final altitude of 6,271 meters over sea level, and a temperature as low as – 18°C.
This trek takes you along the ancient Incan roads, visiting the archaeological complexes of the area, such as the Llaqtapata site. You will have the privilege of having a view of Machu Picchu from a totally different perspective from the traditional pictures.
Departing (on Mondays, Wednesdays or Saturdays) form Cusco, you will go through the villages of Challacancha, Soroycocha, Qollpapampa, Lucmabamba, Hidro, and finally arrive to Machu Picchu. During the trek you will appreciate different ecosystems and a great variety of flora and fauna that bring to live the most beautiful landscapes of the Peruvian Andes that will make you be one with nature.
